RUTH O. PREGENZER is a partner of the law firm of Pregenzer, Baysinger, Wideman & Sale, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is admitted to practice law in New Mexico State Courts, U. S. District Court of New Mexico, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the U. S. Supreme Court. Her law practice concentrates on fiduciary litigation, guardianships and conservatorships, and elder law. The law practice of the firm concentrates on taxation, estate planning, probate, business succession, disability planning, elder law, business consulting and life care planning. Ruth has been a trial lawyer for 22 years in complex litigation in both criminal and civil matters and has tried many cases to juries and judges in state and federal courts. She represented physicians in medical malpractice cases for 17 years. In addition, she advises generally in the areas of elder law, incapacity planning, and special needs trusts and consults with professional service groups on risk management issues. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Ruth graduated from the University of New Mexico in English and Philosophy Summa Cum Laude in 1982. She graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law with her Juris Doctor Magna Cum Laude in 1986. While in law school, she was awarded the Jerrold W. Walden Memorial Award, Honors in the Clinical Law Program, and was initiated into the Order of the Coif. She earned an LLM from Yale University in 1990. Ruth has a public interest background, having worked in both the state and Federal public defender offices. She was a clinical fellow in the clinical law program at the University of New Mexico School of Law, and currently is an adjunct professor at the law school teaching evidence and trial practice. From 2001 to 2003, at the request of federal district Judge Parker, Ruth served as Chairperson of the Committee on Admissions and Grievances for the U. S. District Court of New Mexico.
